How do you convince a fish she is in water?

Lashon hara is a halakhic term that basically means gossip but gossip that is true. It's considered one of the worst sins because, although it is truth, it lowers someone in the estimation of others.

For the Media, lashon hara is the primary revenue stream.

Our words are spells that we say, write and sing to one another every moment. Every bit of communication is backed up by secret motivations that even the teller or writer or singer can't know. We're swimming in this pool of spells and truthful gossips fed by tributaries of mysterious motivations that coalesce us.

How do we convince a fish she's in water? We take her out of it. How do we convince ourselves we're swimming in a lake of spells? Silence.

It's difficult to be truly silent because the mind needs our attention like a toddler. It will tug at our attention with worries and needful things or joyful fantasy, anything not to be silenced but I believe that's one reason we're here. To not only face the fears our minds create for us but to not mind the fears.

I never know what mysterious secret motivations are behind these posted spells. They do give me a joyful fantasy that someone will think I'm profound until I worry that I come off as pretentious. Either way, they keep me from feeling silenced.
